Fletcher Cox eyeing another big accomplishment following Super Bowl season

Former Mississippi State star DT Fletcher Cox has continued to dominate in the NFL, anchoring the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense en route to a Super Bowl victory this past season.
Now, though, he has some loftier goals. Yes, they are personal goals, but if he accomplishes them, it will only help the Eagles win games.
At training camp this week, Cox told Philly.com that he’d like to win the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Year. He added that he thinks the best way for him to do that is to reach 10 or more sacks for the first time in his career:
“I’ve had a bunch of chances for double-digit sacks,” Cox said. “I’ve just got to finish on the quarterback more. Those sacks that I missed – could have had him, but he slipped out of my arms.”
Cox reached 9.5 sacks back in 2015 and has 34 total sacks in his six-year NFL career. He has a Super Bowl ring, a $100-million contract and more, so the DPOY trophy is one of the only things missing.
If he can improve on last year’s dominant performance, he’ll have to be mentioned among the league’s best defenders at the end of the season.
