With SEC stadiums at reduced capacity for the 2020 football season, many fans have wondered about artificial crowd noise. Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin was able to offer some insight during a Wednesday radio interview.

Stricklin was asked about crowd noise while appearing with WRUF’s Steve Russell. According to UF beat reporter Nick de la Torre of Gator Country, Stricklin shared that in terms of allowed artificial noise in 2020, the SEC’s policy will remain the same. Sounds played over the stadium PA and fan noisemakers like Mississippi State’s cowbells will be allowed up until the ball is snapped.
Unlike other SEC programs, Florida has not announced policies regarding attendance and on-campus tailgating policy for the 2020 fall season. Stricklin told Russell those policies will be revealed by the end of the week, per de la Torre.
Florida opens the 2020 season at Ole Miss on Sept. 26. The Gators’ home-opener is scheduled for Oct. 3 against South Carolina. Both games are set for noon Eastern kickoffs.
