Florida basketball home games will reportedly look a bit different on TV this season. The O’Connell Center’s second-level press box, which is the location of the full-court broadcast camera and camera well, is moving to the opposite side of the court, according to Graham Hall of Swamp247. As a result, the Rowdy Reptiles in UF’s student section will finally be featured more prominently on game broadcasts.
In a statement to Swamp247, Florida AD Scott Stricklin called it an exciting development for UF games in Exactech Arena at the O’Connell Center:
“The Rowdy Reptiles have been difference-makers in the O’Dome for many years,” UF athletics director Scott Stricklin said in a statement to Swamp247, “so we’re excited to better share that energy and the environment they help create with our fans watching on television.”
Florida’s 2022-23 season gets underway in November. The Gators’ first 2 regular-season home games against Stony Brook and Kennesaw State are set to stream on SEC Network+. The Nov. 14 home against Florida Atlantic is set to be broadcast on the SEC Network.
