Florida still has plenty of work to do when it comes to the 2025 recruiting class. Fortunately, Billy Napier’s Gators landed a key piece Friday night.

The player is Micah Jones, a Mississippi tight end who received plenty of interest from around the country and within the SEC. He committed to Florida over other SEC programs in Ole Miss, LSU and Arkansas, giving the Gators a major win within the conference.

Jones is listed at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds out of Madison Central High School in Madison, MS. The 247 Sports Composite rates Jones as a 3-star recruit and the 28th TE in the country for the class of 2025.

Impact for Florida

Jones is just the 6th hard commitment for Florida at this point in the process, and the Gators still have their work cut out for them. A trio of Florida’s current commits have received a 4-star composite ranking, but just one of those players — 4-star edge Jalen Wiggins — is a top-100 player nationally.

Florida’s recruiting class currently ranks dead last in the SEC per the 247 Sports Team Composite. We’ll see how Napier and his staff try and improve that ranking throughout the summer and fall.
