Three-star CB Damarri Mathis committed to South Carolina on June 17, but announced Monday that he is no longer a Gamecocks pledge.
The Lakeland (Fla.) product posted a brief note on his Twitter account stating he is looking to open up his recruitment:

John Del Bianco of The Big Spur notes that Mathis did not take an official visit to South Carolina. He reportedly tried to make a visit to Columbia this month, but could not get it set up with the staff.
Mathis’ other listed Power 5 offers are from Minnesota, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh. The Gamecocks currently have 20 pledges in their 2017 class.
