Florida DB Kamar Wilcoxson has announced he won’t be suiting up for the Gators the rest of the 2022 season. Wilcoxson has left the team with plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal next month when the window opens.

Wilcoxson shared the news in a social media post Thursday morning.

Wilcoxson had a memorable recruitment. He ended up making 3 total commitments to UF after 2 decommitments, including a pledge to Tennessee. Wilcoxson was long considered a class of 2021 prospect, but reclassified in the summer of 2020 to enroll at Florida and join the Gators in the fall semester.

Wilcoxson has already been scrubbed from Florida’s online roster. Stats sites show Wilcoxson appearing in 4 games over his 3 seasons with the program.

Upon transferring, Wilcoxson will have 3 seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting and applying the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for 2020.

From Lilburn, Georgia, Wilcoxson finished high school at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2020 with scholarship offers from 30 schools.

Wilcoxson is the second defender to leave the team this week. Florida OLB Brenton Cox Jr. was dismissed on Monday.
