Florida will have to find a new sack leader in 2019. Junior DE Jachai Polite has announced he’ll forego his senior season to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
Originally a 3-star recruit in the class of 2016, Polite started to turn heads and generate some buzz in his sophomore season. It was his junior season, however, that earned him national recognition. In 2018, Polite was a nuisance for opposing quarterbacks, recording 11 sacks, three quarterback hurries and four pass breakups. He logged a total of 45 tackles (17.5 for loss) and six forced fumbles.
With those numbers, it’s no surprise to see Polite projected as a potential first-round pick in mock drafts. Polite’s Twitter handle, @RetireMoms, hints at what he plans to do once he gets paid by his new team. The note below, in which he thanks both coaching staffs, was posted on his Twitter account.
Polite joins DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and OL Jawaan Taylor as Gators players to declare for the NFL Draft.
Andrew writes about sports to fund his love of live music and collection of concert posters. He strongly endorses the Hall of Fame campaigns of Fred Taylor and Andruw Jones.
