Transfer defensive lineman Antonio Valentino appeared in all 12 games of Florida’s regular season, starting 8 of those games, but he won’t be playing Thursday night.

Moments before kickoff of the Gasparilla Bowl, Valentino revealed he won’t be suiting up for the Gators against UCF. Valentino did not explain why he won’t play, only offering that he’s “heartbroken,” saying he would be cheering from the sidelines.

Valentino, a transfer from Penn State, recorded 23 tackles, including 3 for loss and a sack during the 2021 regular season. The Gators are also missing players due to injury, transfer and the NFL Draft.
