Florida is leading Kentucky 27-13 at halftime on Saturday night in Gainesville.

The play of Florida quarterback DJ Lagway has caught the attention of fans and media in the first half. Lagway’s stat line isn’t overwhelming, but he did flash his significant upside by throwing for 152 yards on just 11 attempts in the first half.

The big moments for Lagway came in the second quarter. He completed passes of 50 and 58 yards — both to Elijah Badger — to set up a pair of Florida touchdowns in the second quarter. On both occasions, the drives were finished off by Florida running back Jadan Baugh.

In total, Lagway completed 3 passes of 40+ yards in the first half.

Florida’s offense is off to an excellent start in this game against the Wildcats, mostly due to those big plays. Florida averaged 8.2 yards per play in the first half. Entering tonight, the Gators were averaging just 6.13 yards per play vs. SEC opponents.

Lagway got the start in this game following Graham Mertz’s season-ending injury last weekend.

Here’s some of the reaction to that first half from Lagway and the Florida offense:

Florida would move to 4-3 on the season with a win.
