The exodus of Florida Gators to the transfer portal continued Monday, as receiver Naeshaun Montgomery is reportedly moving on from Gainesville after a single season.

Montgomery recorded 3 catches for 26 yards in his freshman campaign. Montgomery notched 2 receptions for 19 yards, including a 12-yarder, in a 55-0 victory against Long Island in August and then had 1 catch for 7 yards in a 34-24 loss to then-No. 7 Ole Miss in November.

The 6-foot-1, 189-pound Montgomery was a 3-star prospect by 247Sports Composite out of Miami (Fla.) Central HS in the 2025 class. He was also recruited heavily by Florida State, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Ohio State and Penn State among others.

Montgomery totaled 41 catches for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns during his junior and senior seasons at Miami Central. He hauled in 25 passes for 537 yards and 4 TDs as a senior.

Montgomery’s decision to hit the portal on Jan. 2 is the latest of several Gators to announce their intention to move on rather than play for new coach Jon Sumrall. Quarterback DJ Lagway, wide receivers Aidan Mizell, Tank Hawkins, Muizz Tounkara and Mike Peterson Jr., tight ends Amir Jackson and Hayden Hansen and running back KD Daniels are all prominent skill-position players reportedly on the portal list.

On3Sports first reported Montgomery’s decision.
