Florida loses key defender to draft, writes heartfelt farewell to Gator Nation

Florida will be losing one of the key members of its defense to the NFL Draft.

Safety Keanu Neal announced on his Instagram account today that he’ll be forgoing his final year of eligibility on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder, who flies to the ball with great instincts and a love for big hits, finished with 96 tackles this season. That total ranks 3rd in the SEC among defensive backs and 15th in the SEC among all players.

Neal finished with a team-high 11 tackles in the Gators’ 41-7 Citrus Bowl loss to Michigan on New Year’s Day.
