Florida lost an off-the-field assistant to Toledo.
Head coach Jason Candle announced on Tuesday that Marquel Blackwell, who served as the team’s quality control specialist in 2015, will leave the Gators after one season to coach the Rockets’ running backs.
Blackwell was a former quarterback at South Florida and has 10 years of coaching experience. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native got most of that experience in the Sunshine State.
His only previous on-field job at the FBS level also came as a running backs coach in 2012 with Western Kentucky.
