The Florida Gators had a quarterback battle brewing, as Kyle Trask outplayed starter Feleipe Franks after coming on in relief during a blowout loss to Mizzou.
However, an injury in practice has reportedly ended that battle before it ever got the chance to start.
Per reports surfacing out of Gainesville on Wednesday, Trask suffered an injury during practice that the Gators fear will keep him out the rest of the year:
#Gators fear QB Kyle Trask suffered a serious injury in practice during a non-contact, confirming @ThomasGoldkamp report. Source told me program fears it will hold him out for remainder of season.

There was a lot of momentum for Trask to start against South Carolina on Saturday, so this is a big loss for coach Dan Mullen and his program.
It looks like Franks will be back in the starting lineup on Saturday, but we’ll see if that ends up being the way Mullen goes with the quarterback position.
