The Florida Gators have released an updated depth chart for this weekend’s matchup with LSU.
The Gators are dealing with a number of injuries that have forced the Gators to shuffle guys around in the lineup. QB Luke Del Rio was injured in his first start of the season against Vanderbilt and will be out for the rest of the season as a result. Feleipe Franks, who started the first three games of the season for Florida, will assume the starting role once again for the LSU game.
WR Tyrie Cleveland was moved out of the starting lineup, but that is likely due to the sprained ankle he sustained in the Vanderbilt game. Cleveland has played well for the Gators and was one of the heroes in the win over Tennessee. He is listed as questionable to play against LSU, although Jim McElwain seemed to indicate Monday that he’s out.
The one interesting note is that Florida seems intent on sticking with a rotation at RB. Lamical Perine, Mark Thompson, and Malik Davis are all listed as first-string possibilities at RB.
Davis, however, has clearly been the better performer as of late. He rushed for 93 yards against Kentucky and followed that up with 124 yards and 2 TDs on 17 carries against Vanderbilt. Davis certainly looks like the guy Florida will lean on, but the rotation in the backfield will continue. Davis and Perine give Florida a nice one-two punch.
