Florida was desperate for a win on Saturday, as the Gators had dropped three consecutive games since winning their season-opener. They delivered in a big way on Saturday, as the Gators upset No. 9 Texas by a score of 29-21 in the Swamp.
The offense got a much needed boost from freshman receiver Dallas Wilson, who had a historic day with six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
After the game, the Gators made sure to celebrate in style, as the team posted a video of the locker room celebration as they were singing the school fight song.
Florida struggled on offense during its 3-game losing streak, but the debut of Wilson couldn’t have come at a better time. It isn’t a coincidence that quarterback DJ Lagway finally resembled the guy that many across college football thought we would see all season. He was 21-of-28 for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns, and was in control the entire day against a great Texas defense.
Billy Napier needed a win in a big way, as fans had once again started to call for his job. The Gators will be back in action next weekend in College Station to take on Texas A&M.
