Florida softball defeated South Florida in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night.

The No. 14 Gators were tied with USF entering the 9th inning. But a quick rally loaded the bases with 1 out for Emily Wilkie, who sent everyone home happy.

Here’s a replay:

Wilkie didn’t start this game for the Gators, but was excellent off the bench. She went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI in the win.

Skylar Wallace was also exceptional, going 2-for-3 with a walk and 2 stolen bases. Charla Echols went 3-for-4 with a home run in the win.

In the circle, Florida was led by Elizabeth Hightower. She started the game and pitched 5 solid innings, allowing 3 earned runs. Ryle Trlicek earned the win out of the bullpen with 2 scoreless innings.

Looking ahead for Florida softball

Florida is now 32-11 this season. The Gators were set to play a double-header against South Florida on Wednesday, but one of the games was canceled.

The SEC is entering the home stretch of its regular season. Florida will face Tennessee in Knoxville this weekend. After that, the Gators will have just 2 SEC series remaining before the conference tournament begins.

Florida also has 2 matchups remaining vs. Florida State. Its final home game of the regular season will be against the Noles on Wednesday, May 3.
