Florida State was blown out by Clemson on Saturday, and Seminoles coach Willie Taggart was disappointed with more than just the result — a 59-10 loss.

After the game, Taggart questioned the effort level of some of his players.

“First time since I’ve been here I felt like we had some guys that quit on our football team, and that can’t be tolerated,” Taggart said during his postgame press conference, according to Grace Raynor of The Post and Courier.

Clemson scored four touchdowns during the second quarter to build a 28-0 halftime lead. Florida State trailed, 52-3, entering the fourth quarter.

The Seminoles have struggled in their first season under Taggart as they fell to 4-4 with the loss to the Tigers, which includes going 2-4 in ACC play. In addition to Saturday’s loss, Florida State has also been defeated by Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Miami.

The remainder of the Seminoles’ schedule doesn’t get any easier. Three of their four remaining games are against ranked opponents — No. 22 N.C. State, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 9 Florida.
