Florida State fans call for Mike Norvell to be fired after Seminoles fall to Pitt

The 2025 season started in the best way imaginable for the Florida State Seminoles, as they knocked off a top-10 Alabama Crimson Tide squad at home after only managing to win 2 games in 2024.
The Noles then proceeded to rattle off a couple more wins before rolling into their Week 5 matchup against the Virginia Cavaliers, but this is unfortunately where the wheels started falling off once again for sixth-year head coach Mike Norvell.
Florida State dropped that matchup against unranked Virginia, followed it up with a loss to hated in-state rival, the Miami Hurricanes, last week, and entered Saturday’s matchup against the Pitt Panthers in a must-win scenario.
Norvell and the Seminoles needed a win against the Panthers if they wanted to salvage any hope at a spot in the College Football Playoff and avoid an 0-3 start in ACC play, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
The offense was solid for the Noles, but the defense once again failed to show up down in Tallahassee, as Pitt marched into Doak Campbell Stadium and silenced the war chant by handing FSU a devastating 34-31 loss.
This means that the Seminoles have now lost their last 3 games after starting with a 3-0 record, and any optimism they had following their win against the Tide has all evaporated, leaving nothing but pain and despair behind.
Given how things went last season for Florida State, fans were already starting to grow restless with Norvell following last weekend’s loss to the Canes. After this loss to the Panthers, though, the calls for his job have started to pour in.
