Florida State lost a key member of its 2025 recruiting class on Tuesday evening.
Malik Clark, a 4-star receiver out of South Carolina, has backed off of his verbal pledge to sign with Florida State. Clark had been committed to FSU since July, but will now be re-evaluating his options.

Clark is a significant loss for Florida State. He’s the No. 238 overall player and the No. 30 receiver in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 player from the state of South Carolina.
It’s unclear where Clark will be taking his talents to instead, but he figures to have no shortage of options. Clark visited South Carolina, North Carolina and NC State, to name a few programs, earlier this year.
This is the continuation of a worrying trend for FSU. Clark is the third 2025 prospect to decommit from Florida State since the beginning of September. The recruiting dry spell comes as the Noles are just 1-4 to start the 2024 season.
Florida State now enters the month of October with just 11 commits in this upcoming recruiting cycle. The class sits at No. 35 in the national rankings, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Early Signing Period begins in December.
