Florida State did not have the kind of season anyone was hoping for this fall, and the Seminoles are shaking up Mike Norvell’s coaching staff as a result. After landing Gus Malzahn to lead the offense, FSU is reportedly bringing in proven defensive coordinator Tony White from Matt Rhule’s Nebraska staff.
Now, it’s being reported another piece of the Husker staff is likely to follow White to Tallahassee. According to Brendan Sonnone with Noles247, defensive line coach Terrance Knighton is prepared to join the new FSU defensive staff.
The former NFL standout has been a mainstay on Rhule’s coaching staff going back to the head coach’s time with the Carolina Panthers. Knighton followed Rhule to Nebraska and as served there the past two seasons with impressive results.

The defensive line has been solid for Nebraska under White and Knighton with Ty Robinson developing into an NFL Draft prospect and setting career-high marks with 11 TFL and 6 sacks during the 2024 season. While it will be a nice addition for the Seminoles, it’s another tough blow for Rhule entering a pivotal offseason.
Nebraska will be out to show getting back to a bowl game in 2024 is no fluke. Without key pieces of the defensive staff, and the loss of some veteran contributors, the Huskers will need to reload quickly.
