With Cam Akers off to the NFL a year early, Florida State’s running attack was set to look much different in 2020 and now the team’s efforts to replace the program’s leading rusher from the 2019 season just got more difficult.

That’s because Florida State has dismissed running back Khalan Laborn for a violation of team rules. The school officially announced the news on Tuesday.

Laborn, a former five-star recruit and the No. 1 all-purpose running back prospect in the 2017 recruiting cycle out of Virginia Beach, Va., had 297 rushing yards and four touchdowns during the 2019 season. His total was good for second among all FSU rushers last season.

The Virginia native signed with FSU over Alabama, Auburn and Arizona State, among others during the 2017 recruiting cycle.

With Laborn now gone from the team, FSU’s leading returning rusher from last season is quarterback Jordan Travis, who had 228 yards on the ground last fall.
