Florida State’s scoring struggles reach longest streak in decades

Florida State has reached yet another notable low in what’s been one of the most disappointing seasons for the Seminoles in relevance to what the preseason expectations were for the team.

There have been problems abound in all three phases of the game, but one thing that stands out the most is FSU’s difficulty with putting points on the scoreboard consistently. Dating back to last season’s limp to the finish line, the Seminoles have gone 10 consecutive games with 21 or fewer points.

It’s the longest such streak for the team since the dark days of the 1970s when they went 30 straight games with 21 or less points between 1972 and 1975. Head coach Mike Norvell’s squad is currently on a four-game losing streak. The most points the Seminoles have scored in a single game in the 2024 season is 21 points. That was in the 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech on Aug. 24, the Week 0 game in Dublin, Ireland.

Their most recent loss came in the form of a 36-14 fall to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, dropping FSU to an overall record of 1-7 on the season. The program’s only victory of the season was against the California Golden Bears when they got the 14-9 home victory.

They will hope to notch their second win of the season when they face the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday.
