Florida is perenially one of the best recruiting teams in the country with the team producing a class inside the top 20 in the country in each of the last 5 seasons.

The trend seems to be continuing in 2025 as the Gators successfully flipped a 4-star prospect from his Texas commitment. On Sunday, Joseph Mbatchou announced that he would indeed be committing to the Gators.

“Go Gators,” said the Loganville, GA native in his announcement.

Mbatchou stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 285 pounds. The talented defender stars for Grayson High School and is rated as a 4-star according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. The ranking also lists Mbatchou as the No. 31 defensive lineman and the No. 42 player out of Georgia for the 2025 class.

The defender had only been committed to Texas for a week, having announced that pledge to the Longhorns on November 23. However, Mbatchou originally committed to the Gators back in July before decommitting in October. The prospect did visit Florida in November.

Before deciding on a school, Mbatchou received offers from USC, Michigan, Auburn, LSU, and others in addition to Texas and Florida. With the addition of Mbatchou, the Gators currently have the No. 12 class for 2025. Mbatchou is 1 of 11 4-stars currently committed to the Gators.

The Early Signing Period will open on December 4 and close on December 6.
