Florida has lost a commitment from one of its 2024 pledges.
Michai Boireau was part of a wave of June commitments from Billy Napier’s staff. On Monday, he took to social media to announce that he has decommitted from UF.
“I would like to start by thanking the University of Florida, and its staff for blessing me and my family with a great opportunity,” wrote in a posted note. “I really appreciate Coach Spencer and Coach James for recruiting me.
“After talking to my family and loved ones and lots of consideration, I will be decommitting from the University of Florida.
“This is a huge decision and the most important thing is I find the best place academically and athletically. Following me decommitting my recruitment is 100% open.”
A standout of Creekside High School in Georgia, Boireau is listed as measuring 6-5, 390 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Boireau is rated 3-stars, the No. 72 defensive lineman, No. 79 recruit in the Peach State and No. 706 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.
Boireau appears to be underrated for a prospect that has picked up offers from 26 schools, including Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M. Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports has logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Boireau to land at UGA.
Florida has 21 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 3 nationally on the Composite.
