Florida’s C.J. McWilliams flagged for the most bizarre penalty we’ve seen this season

Considering how high the stakes are in Saturday’s game between No. 7 Georgia and No. 9 Florida, neither team can afford to do favors for the other with silly penalties.

C.J. McWilliams didn’t get the memo — especially the “silly” part.

The Gators redshirt sophomore defensive back received a delay of game penalty on the game’s opening drive when he refused to follow an official’s direction to leave the field to fix a uniform violation. McWilliams’ initial offense was that his pants didn’t cover his knees, which you can see below in a photo tweeted by Sporting News.

Fortunately for McWilliams, the penalty didn’t end up being terribly costly despite turning a third and 3 for the Bulldogs into a first-and-goal situation. Georgia ultimately settled for a field goal on that drive but now leads 10-0 late in the first quarter.

Florida fans are surely hoping McWilliams has come to his senses and fixed his uniform because, at this rate, the Bulldogs don’t need any more free yards.
