Florida’s Jacob Young extends hitting streak to 30 games, new school record

The Florida baseball record books got an update on Sunday. Outfielder Jacob Young now has the longest hitting streak in school history.
Young extended his streak to 30 games Sunday late in UF’s 8-0 win over Florida A&M. He breaks Tim Olson’s record of 29 games from the 2000 season.
Nick de la Torre of Rivals’ Gator Territory was on hand at Florida Ballpark and shared a video of the record-breaking hit.

Due to the 2020 spring sports shutdown, Young’s 30-game streak stretches out over 646 days, having started late in the 2019 campaign. In 2020, the Gators were only able to complete 17 games.

Young will look to make it 31 games when Florida hosts Georgia State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
