Following cancellation of game, Colgate coach makes incredible gesture to those affected by Hurricane Florence
With Hurricane Florence bearing down on the East Coast, several college football games slated for this weekend have been canceled.
But one coach whose team was affected by the looming storm is making the best of a bad situation.
Colgate’s Dan Hunt announced the team is offering its scheduled hotel rooms and meals to those seeking refuge from Florence.

Colgate was set to face fellow FCS team Furman in Greenville, South Carolina, at 1 p.m. Saturday. Given the hurricane appears headed for the Carolinas, school officials wisely called off the game, but Hunt graciously allowed his team’s resources to aid people in the storm’s path.
“It’s obviously a disappointment that we are not playing but at the end of the day, there are decisions bigger than football that need to be made for the safety of a lot of people,” Hunt said in a university news release. “This is 100 percent the right decision.”
