Clemson QB Kelly Bryant’s decision to transfer from the team after losing the starting job has put the Tigers in a tough spot. While Clemson looks to be on track for another playoff berth, those hopes may rest on the health of true freshman Trevor Lawrence. The return of Bryant and the signing of Lawrence led to multiple transfers already. Now with Bryant departed, the Tigers are thin in terms of reserve quarterbacks.

The immediate backup would be Chase Brice, but after that, things are uncertain. The No. 3 option this weekend appears to be senior WR Hunter Renfrow.

“We will get a plan together for Renfrow,” coach Dabo Swinney told reporters after practice this week. “He obviously knows everything, but we have to knock the rust off. He hasn’t been back there ball handling and all of that, but he’s a quick study and we will get him up to speed.”
