Former Alabama All-American LB Reuben Foster is looking to make a comeback. Foster will reportedly play in the USFL this spring in hopes of getting back to the NFL.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that Foster is signing with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers.

Foster won the Butkus Award and was named a unanimous All-American for 2016, his final season at Alabama. The San Francisco 49ers selected Foster No. 31 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Foster made the PFWA All-Rookie Team for the 2017 season.

Foster’s last NFL game action came with San Francisco in 2018. That year, Foster’s season was shortened by an arrest that landed him on the commissioner’s exempt list (domestic battery charges were later dropped).

Foster was claimed by Washington after being waived by San Francisco. In May 2019, Foster tore his ACL and LCL during his first practice with Washington. He spent time on the physically unable to perform list and later injured reserve before his contract with the club expired following the 2020 season.

The United States Football League, which is not officially associated with prior leagues using the USFL name, launched in 2022. The 2023 season is set to kick off on April 15.
