The NFL Network’s Ian Rapport is reporting that former Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick will be signing with the San Francisco 49ers.

The announcement was made after the 49ers found out that Jason Verrett will be out the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.

Kirkpatrick was recently with the Arizona Cardinals. Kirkpatrick, who has been in the NFL for almost a decade, was the 2012 first-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals and was with them for seven years before signing with the Cardinals last year.

In his career, Kirkpatrick has 19 interceptions, 358 tackles, and 3 sacks. While at Alabama, he won two national championships and was named second-team All-SEC back in 2010 and 2011.
