Williams served on Saban’s staff this season after being fired from Bryan Harsin’s staff at Auburn 4 games into the 2021 campaign.
Williams is a native of Mobile, Alabama, who also previously coached at South Alabama, North Alabama, Jacksonville State, UAB and Troy. Williams will be reunited with New Mexico offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent, as the pair worked together at UAB.
The departure of Williams marks the 4th member of Alabama’s staff to leave this offseason. Safeties coach Charles Kelly is now the defensive coordinator at Colorado. UAB has hired analyst Alex Mortensen to be the program’s offensive coordinator. Special assistant to the head coach Drew Svoboda accepted a position as North Texas’ special teams coordinator.
Alabama concluded the season with an 11-2 record after defeating Kansas State 45-20 in the Sugar Bowl.
