Former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman Christian Barmore was activated from the non-football illness list on Saturday after receiving treatment for blood clots. Barmore was diagnosed with the condition in July of this year shortly after signing a 4-year deal with the Patriots.

Barmore is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Rams, but according to a report from Ian Rapoport he “should” play.

Barmore had an excellent 2023 season with the Patriots, finishing the year with 8.5 sacks and 64 tackles with 1 forced fumble and 6 pass deflections. This comes after a quiet, but productive first 2 seasons in the NFL after being selected No. 38 overall in the 2nd round of the 2021 Draft.

He was excellent at Alabama too, especially in 2020. Barmore was named the 2021 National Championship Defensive MVP after a 5-tackle, 1-sack performance against Ohio State. He finished the regular season with 8 sacks, 37 tackles and 3 forced fumbles.

The Patriots defense has struggled against every team not named the Chicago Bears this season. Adding Barmore back to the defensive line is an immediate boon heading into Sunday’s matchup against Los Angeles.
