Former Alabama DL Jeheim Oatis announces transfer commitment to Colorado
Former Alabama defensive lineman Jeheim Oatis has announced his next school. The talented defender shockingly announced his intention to transfer back in October after failing to secure a bigger role on the defense. Now, Oatis will head out west to join Colorado.
Oatis pointed to head coach Deion Sanders, defensive line coach Damione Lewis, and analyst Warren Snapp as his reasons for joining the Buffaloes.
“I feel like it’s beneficial for me, and I feel like I can give a lot of help to this season, and will have a coach I can depend on and a position coach leading me the right way,” Oatis told ESPN.
Oatis played in the season-opener this year against Western Kentucky and collected 2 tackles and 1 pass deflection. The lineman did not appear in another game before announcing his plans to transfer at the beginning of October.
Oatis started in 13 games over his first 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa and played in 29 games overall with the Tide. The massive DL ends his Alabama career with 57 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. ESPN had Oatis as the No. 1 defender in the portal and the No. 5 player overall in the portal.
Overall, 14 Alabama players have entered the portal so far. Oatis, cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, and running back Justice Haynes are just a few of the notable players who will seemingly play elsewhere in 2025.
For Colorado, Oatis is the 2nd player to commit via the portal, joining Lousiana-Monroe offensive lineman Carter Miller.
