After showing promise early in Buffalo Bills training camp, ex-Alabama LB Reggie Ragland’s rookie season took a turn for the worst.
The former Crimson Tide star tore his ACL and may have done other damage to his knee earlier this week.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted on Wednesday that Ragland will go in for surgery soon:
#Bills LB Reggie Ragland is set for surgery later this week on his partially torn ACL, per source. The knee is believed to have other damage

The initial prognosis is unclear, Rapoport tweeted. Ragland could be done for the year, or he could return midway through the season:
During Reggie Ragland's surgery, he'll learn whether his season is over or if it's a 6-8 week recovery. Either way, he'll miss serious time.

Fortunately for the Bills, there’s a comparison to be made to a recent Buffalo linebacker:
Based on the initial tests, #Bills LB Reggie Ragland expected to land on IR. A caveat: Last year Kiko Alonso had a similar injury & returned

Hopefully 2016 doesn’t turn into a lost season for Ragland and the Bills, but if it does, it’s a safe bet that the former Alabama star will do everything he can to come back stronger in 2017.
