Former Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans was released by the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday after making a minimal impact for the franchise to start this season.
Evans was in his 2nd stint with the Falcons, and his first offered what was probably the best season of his career. The former Crimson Tide LB has been in the league for 7 seasons and was a member of Alabama’s 2015 and 2017 national championship teams.
Evans spent the entire season on the practice squad and has not seen any minutes. He most recently saw the field with the Dallas Cowboys, totaling 9 tackles across the 2023 season.
We have made the following moves:
– Signed Kevin King to PS
– Released Rashaan Evans from PS
– Elevated Kevin King and Matt Hennessy from PS
– Activated Nate Landman to the 53— Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) October 12, 2024
Evans was drafted in 2018 by the Tennessee Titans and showed some early promise, especially in Year 2. He spent 4 years in Nashville and accumulated well over 300 tackles with 3 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 13 stuffs.
From there he moved on to his first stint with the Falcons and shined, totaling 159 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 pass deflections and a pair of fumble recoveries. He finished as Atlanta’s leading tackler by a wide margin.
Evans has unfortunately struggled to get back to that level since being waived by the Cowboys after a December arrest for Marijuana possession.
