Former Alabama OL Alex Leatherwood was a surprise cut by the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of the 2022 NFL season.

Leatherwood was the left tackle for the Crimson Tide’s historic 2020 national title run and was a first-round pick by the Raiders in the 2021 NFL Draft.

But, after struggling in Year 1, Leatherwood was cut by the Raiders following the 2022 preseason. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Leatherwood is now heading to Chicago to play for the Bears this fall:

The Bears were widely considered to have one of the worst (if not the worst) offensive lines in the NFL, so Leatherwood has the chance to jump in and start right away.

The Raiders never moved Leatherwood to a guard position, which is where many analysts think he’d have more success in the pro ranks. We’ll see how the Bears plan to use him when they kick off the 2022 regular season in a couple of weeks.
