Former Alabama offensive lineman D.J. Fluker is looking for a new NFL team. Fluker announced Sunday via his Twitter account that he has been released from the Seattle Seahawks.

He handled the situation with class, thanking the team and its fans (the 12th Man):

Dear 12s,

I was released by the Seahawks today. Couple of things: I am not upset, or hurt. This is a business and one that I’ve been in for a while. I want to thank John and Pete for their very thoughtful calls.

Stay safe, be kind and I love y’all.

Thank you, Seattle.

Fluker was a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, selected No. 11 overall by the (then-San Diego) Chargers. After four seasons with the Chargers, he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the New York Giants in 2017. He played in 9 games for the Giants, starting 6 before hurting his toe in Week 11 and being placed on injured reserve.

Fluker then landed with Seattle, playing 10 games, including 9 starts, in 2018. He then signed a two-year, $9 million contract in March of 2019.

The Seahawks used a third-round pick on former LSU right guard Damien Lewis in this weekend’s draft. The team expects him to take a starting spot on the offensive line, likely leading to Fluker’s release.
