Former Alabama OL Tommy Brockermeyer announces commitment to Big 12 school

Former Alabama OL Tommy Brockermeyer, who was a 5-star recruit coming out of Texas, announced Tuesday on Twitter that he is heading back to his native Fort Worth to continue his collegiate career.
The 6-5, 304-pound freshman who recently entered the transfer portal will be joining TCU for the 2023 season.

Brockermeyer played sparingly during his 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa while dealing with a plethora of injuries.
Last Thursday, TCU Insider Jeremy Clark predicted that Brockermeyer would be joining the Horned Frogs, who went 12-1 during the regular season and are preparing to play Michigan on New Year’s Eve in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
In transferring to TCU, Brockermeyer will be continuing the family tradition of playing college ball in the state of Texas. Brockermeyer’s father, Blake, played offensive tackle at Texas, and his older brother, Luke, played linebacker for the Longhorns.
But Tommy won’t be heading to Austin like his family members. Instead, he’ll be going back to where it all began, in Fort Worth, to try to earn more playing time than he had at Alabama.
In joining TCU, Brockermeyer will be heading from an SEC powerhouse to a budding Big 12 power, and he was 1 of many Crimson Tide offensive linemen to head to the transfer portal when the 45-day portal window began on Dec. 5.
