Former Auburn QB Patrick Nix (whose son, Bo, is Auburn’s current quarterback) is no longer the head coach at Pinson Valley High School in Alabama, leaving to take the job at Central-Phenix City.

With an Auburn grad moving out, Pinson Valley has apparently turned to a former Alabama player to take his place.

Per AL.com, Sam Shade — a member of Alabama’s 1992 title team — is taking over the head coaching job at the school:

Sam Shade – a Wenonah grad who played on Alabama’s 1992 national championship team, played eight seasons in the NFL and has coached in college pro foot all – will be Pinson Valley’s new coach, pending Jefferson County Board of Education approval.

Pinson Valley Principal Michael Turner confirmed the hiring of Shade, who most recently worked as a special teams assistant for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.

Shade was with the Cleveland Browns in 2018 as the team’s assistant special teams coach. We’ll see how he fares at Pinson Valley this fall.
