Bo Scarbrough’s NFL career is taking another turn.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions announced that they signed the former Alabama running back to their practice squad. Scarbrough hadn’t been on an NFL roster since he was waived by the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 31.

After playing at Alabama from 2015-17, Scarbrough has had a slow start to his pro career. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2018 draft, but he was released at the end of his first preseason.

However, Scarbrough rejoined the Cowboys as a member of their practice squad two days after getting cut and remained there until he was released on Oct. 9, 2018. He later spent time on the practice squads of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks last season.

Scarbrough has yet to play in his first NFL game, but he’s only 23, so there is still potential for him to make an impact during his pro career.

The Lions needed to add to their running back depth after losing former Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson and former Texas A&M RB Tra Carson to injuries. If Detroit continues to have injuries in its backfield, then perhaps Scarbrough will be added to its active roster before the season is over.
