Damien Harris was taken off the field in an ambulance Sunday night during the Buffalo Bills-New York Giants game in Buffalo.

The former Alabama running back took a heavy shot while running for a first on third-and-inches in the second quarter. He fought for the line to gain on a second effort but was dragged back by a collection of Giants defenders. Once the play was whistled dead, Harris stayed down on the field.

He appeared to be moving his head initially, but trainers immediately came out to tend to him on the field.

Harris was then put on a stretcher and moved into an ambulance. He was seen giving a thumbs-up as he left the field.

It didn’t appear to be a shot to the head on the initial hit. New York linebacker Bobby Okereke appeared to make contact with his shoulder below Harris’ helmet. You can see the play below:

Harris, a former third-round draft pick out of Alabama, is in his fifth season in the NFL. The first four were spent with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in 2019.

Against the Giants on Sunday night, Harris was injured on his first carry of the game.

Bills players and coaches came off the sideline to be near him as trainers tended to him on the field, with many taking a knee around Harris.
