Former Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the NFL’s most exciting young weapons.
Gibbs is a speedy RB who is also one of the best receiving backs in the league. In Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, Gibbs was making plays like we’re all accustomed to.
However, the Lions got tricky to give Gibbs a score just before halftime.
QB Jared Goff found star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown across the middle before St. Brown lateraled the ball to Gibbs. Gibbs was then able to sprint to the end zone for a score, putting the Lions up 20-7.

The hook-and-ladder play is not seen often in today’s NFL, so it’s cool to see it work effectively. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Gibbs had 11 rushes for 54 yards and the 1 score.
Gibbs was drafted out of Alabama in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft as a top prospect in that draft after an elite season for Alabama in 2022. Gibbs only spent 1 season in Tuscaloosa after spending his first 2 seasons with Georgia Tech.
At Alabama, Gibbs racked up 926 rushing yards with 7 rushing TDs. The back also caught 44 passes for 444 yards and 3 receiving TDs. Gibbs split carries with Jase McClellan, but Gibbs’ receiving ability helped him stand out. That Alabama team would go on to defeat Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl.
As a rookie in Detroit, Gibbs earned a Pro Bowl selection after rushing for 945 yards and catching 52 passes.
