Former Alabama RB Mark Ingram discusses 4-game suspension to start 2018 season

The New Orleans Saints had the best backfield tandem in the NFL last year, with former Alabama RB Mark Ingram and former Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara each gaining more than 1,500 yards from scrimmage.
However, to start the 2018 season, Ingram will be out for the first four games, as he was suspended for a violation of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Naturally, reporters wanted to get Ingram’s thoughts on the suspension when he showed up for OTAs on Tuesday, but outside of the statement at the beginning of this video (via NewOrleansSaints.com), he didn’t say much:
“I’m not really going to say much on the suspension, but I fought it hard,” he said. “I don’t agree with it, but I’m going to serve my suspension, and I’m going to be ready to go when it’s time. Hopefully, we’re 4-0 when I come back.”
The Saints will need Ingram back to take some of the pressure off of Kamara, who thrives in more of a pass-catching role (though he’s no slouch running, either).
The silver lining from the suspension is that Ingram will be around for the final 12 games of the season and the playoffs, so perhaps he’ll be fresher than most other running backs when he returns.
