Former Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams is having quite a first half on Monday Night Football.

In the first half of action between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, Williams scored Detroit’s first 2 touchdowns of the game. His second of the evening was especially memorable with the Lions dialing up some trickery on 3rd-and-long.

The play started as a short crossing route to Amon-Ra St. Brown, but the defense did not track Williams coming across the field underneath St. Brown. It was an easy lateral to Williams, and he did the rest, racing down the field for the touchdown off the hook-and-ladder.

Though it came off a lateral, the play goes down as a 40-yard receiving touchdown for Williams. It’s a big play with the Lions looking to secure a win but also keeping an eye toward the playoffs right around the corner.

It is already Williams’ second touchdown of the night, and his first score also included a bit of trickery. After some pre-snap motion near the goal line, Williams came back across the formation for a handoff to score out of the backfield.

Both quarterbacks in Monday’s game combined to start 19-of-20 passing the ball as the two offenses have had their way in the first half. If this keeps up, Williams will likely get a chance to complete his hat trick.
