Arkansas is battling an awful 2-7 2019 season under Chad Morris, and coming off a 54-24 beating at home to Mississippi State, but Razorback fans could look to the NFL for some encouragement on Sunday, as Brandon Allen received his first career start with the Denver Broncos.

In for the injured Joe Flacco, Allen connected with Courtland Sutton for a 21-yard touchdown, giving the Broncos a 7-0 first-quarter lead over the Cleveland Browns.

Allen is a Fayetteville native, who threw for over 7,000 yards in his Arkansas career that spanned from 2012-2015. Allen also holds the school record for career passing touchdowns with 64.

Drafted as a sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, Allen is on his third NFL franchise, and is off to a nice first career start. Coincidentally, Allen’s first touchdown was thrown to Courtland Sutton, who played for current Arkansas head coach Chad Morris at SMU.
