Ohio State finally reeled in Antwuan Jackson.
On Tuesday, Jackson, a 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle prospect, announced he had committed to the Buckeyes as a member of their 2018 recruiting class.
Two years ago, Ohio State finished runner-up for Jackson, who signed with Auburn and enrolled in January 2016. But Jackson’s tenure with the Tigers never got off the ground. He redshirted last season and announced in May that he would transfer.
Jackson now plays for Blinn College, a two-year school in Brenham, Texas. It was once the home of Heisman Trophy winner and NFL MVP Cam Newton as well as Dede Westbrook, who won the Biletnikoff Award at Oklahoma last season.
During his high school career at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, Jackson was a dominant force, totaling 96 tackles (52 for loss) and 12 sacks. He was named the Class AAA defensive player of the year by the Georgia Sports Writer Association and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. In addition, he won the DeKalb County defensive player of the year award as well as being named an All-America by MaxPreps.
Though he has yet to receive an updated ranking from 247Sports since he transferred from Auburn, Jackson was one of the nation’s most highly regarded prospects in the 2016 class. According to the 247Sports Composite, Jackson, a four-star recruit, was the country’s No. 51 overall prospect — No. 5 among all players in the state of Georgia — and the No. 7 defensive tackle.
