Former Auburn Tigers QB Jeremy Johnson has returned to football as it was announced that he will coach for his high school.
Johnson originally arrived on campus as a highly-touted prospect with the Tigers, but he never quite lived up to the hype under head coach Gus Malzahn. He threw for 2,223 yards and 20 TDs during his Auburn career but never found the kind of consistency needed to keep the job.
While his playing days may be over, Carver Football announced on Wednesday that Johnson would be returning to his alma mater as a coach. According to the release, Johnson will coach QBs for the Montgomery, Alabama school.
Here’s the note that the Carver Football account tweeted out:
It is good to see a former player return to the school he once played for while finding ways to contribute to the next generation of football players.
