Former Auburn QB Malik Willis transferred to Liberty this offseason, and has been working with the Flames ever since.

He was waiting for a ruling on his eligibility from the NCAA, and now it has been handed down.

Liberty announced on Wednesday evening that Willis’s appeal had been denied, meaning he’ll have to sit out the 2019 season:

He’ll have 2 years of eligibility remaining when he’s able to suit up in 2020. Senior Stephen Calvert will continue to start for the Flames.

This may work out well for Willis, who will have 2 years to potentially be the starter after Calvert graduates following this season.
