Former Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson rushes for 100 yards, breaks Detroit Lions dubious streak

The last time the Detroit Lions had a 100-yard rusher, Kerryon Johnson was a junior in high school. But on Sunday night against the New England Patriots, Johnson became the first Lions player to rush for 100 yards in a single game since 2013.
On Thanksgiving that year, Reggie Bush was the last Lions running back to gain 100 rushing yards in a game until this week. Detroit went 70 games without a player eclipsing the century mark on the ground, which is the fourth-longest streak in NFL history.
Johnson just barely hit the 100-mark with 101 rushing yards, but he did it on 16 carries, averaging 6.3 yards per rush.
Kerryon Johnson is the Lions' first 100-yard rusher since Reggie Bush on Thanksgiving 2013, snapping a streak of 70 games without a 100-yard rusher, the 4th longest drought in NFL history.

Detroit hopes Johnson, who is a rookie and played just his third game Sunday, hitting the 100-yard mark becomes a regular thing. He ran effectively right at the Patriots defense behind center Graham Glasgow and guard Frank Ragnow, who is also a rookie from the SEC West (Arkansas).
The Lions improved to 1-2 behind a 26-10 victory against the Patriots.
