Former Auburn WR Duke Williams waived with injury designation

Former Auburn wide receiver Duke Williams will be in search of a new NFL team heading into the 2021 season.
With NFL teams mandated to cut their rosters to 80 players by Tuesday, Williams was placed on the waived/injured by the Buffalo Bills, the team announced.
Williams, a transfer to Auburn from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, was one of the Tigers’ top receivers in 2014 with 730 yards and 5 touchdowns on 45 catches. In 2015, he made 12 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown but ended up being kicked off the team after punching 4 people at an Auburn, Ala. bar. He ultimately signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2016 before being cut prior to the season. Williams then headed north to the CFL, signing with the then-Edmonton Eskimos (now Edmonton Elks) and leading the league in receiving in 2018.
That led him back to the NFL as the Bills signed him in January 2019. While he was cut prior to the season, he was signed to the practice squad and later was activated to the full roster on October 5, 2019. He was later waived prior to the 2020 season but signed once more with the practice squad, being activated in Week 7 and then again for the Bills’ AFC Wild Card matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
After being signed to a futures/reserves contract in January 2021, Williams would end up suffering an injury that has remained undisclosed to this point, leading the Bills to part ways with him.
